FOR a unique seaside experience. The 114-year-old Inn of Cape May is home to Aleathea’s... a truly family-run business. The inn and restaurant are run by the Menz family, and the restaurant is named after ”Thea”, who still bakes desserts. Take a stroll around the lobby, which is packed with antiques and gifts for purchase. Then enjoy an aperitif at the bar, with its views of the Atlantic Ocean. Or, if it’s a lovely day, stroll out to the wraparound porch, where you can sit in a rocking chair and enjoy a cocktail or hors d’oeuvres.
Aleathea’s has a turn-of-the-century style and elegance. The ceilings are decorated with fans and small chandeliers and antique sideboards accent the dusty rose walls. The atmosphere is floral, fresh and summery, and intimate – the tables are placed far from one another, so diners need never fear being overheard or bumped.
